Fraud and Identity
Theft Protection
Capital City Bank is
committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure and in helping
you fight fraud and identity theft. We
currently have substantial measures in place to protect you from identity theft
and we continue to improve our technology systems in order to keep ahead of new
scams and fraud.
In the coming months,
Capital City Bank will be making changes to our Online Banking site. These changes will include new security
procedures when you sign-in to use Online Banking to verify your identity. Currently you use a “user name and password”
to access Online Banking. Capital City
Bank will be instituting Multi-factor Authentication which is considered
to be a more reliable and stronger fraud deterrent. This type of authentication
uses several “factors” to confirm that it is you, and not someone who has

or PINs. The link goes to a fake or “spoof” website designed to look like a
legitimate company.
Capital City Bank will never initiate
a request for your personal account information in an e-mail or through a phone
solicitation. If you call the bank we
will ask you for information in order to verify your identity, but we will not
call or e-mail you asking for verification of sensitive personal information.
Avoid spoofed websites
To protect yourself from going to a spoofed website,
always type “www.capcitybank.com” into your browser when you login to Capital
City Bank Online Banking, instead of clicking a link in an e-mail.
